Gregory V. Billups
Mr. Billups is a native of Norfolk, Virginia and has lived in the Washington Metropolitan area for approximately 40 years. He attended Norfolk City public schools and received his business education from Norfolk State and Old Dominion Universities. He has received executive education from North Carolina State University, the University of Virginia, and Dartmouth College. He also served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy. He began his management career as a production supervisor with Corning Inc. where he supervised the manufacture of electronic resistors. He later became a product manager with Frito-Lay Inc. where he supervised the production of various snack foods. Mr. Billups also worked in the Federal Government where he held various systems, management and logistics staff positions. In 1985, he founded an Information Technology and Integrated Logistics Support firm, Systems, Maintenance & Technology, Inc. (SM&T). The firm grew from one employee to more than 200 by creating successful development partnerships, capitalizing on new market opportunities and successfully establishing and maintaining relationships with financial institutions.SM&T also maintained a reputation for excellent customer and community service while achieving revenue, profit, and business growth objectives within a start-up and rapid-change environment, as illustrated by the receipt of several awards.
